About The Position

Position Overview: The Vice President Technology Services leads the reliability, security, and performance of Vibrant’s technology ecosystem in a vendor-led operating model. This role oversees a small internal team while directing key external partners, including our managed service provider (MSP), cybersecurity/SOC provider, disaster recovery partners, and platform specific partners. This is a leadership, governance, and accountability role not a hands-on engineering position. Success requires strong vendor management, architectural judgment, and the ability to translate organizational needs into dependable technology outcomes that support a regulated, fast-paced, entrepreneurial credit union. The VP will drive technology architecture recommendations, partner with key vendors to shape future state infrastructure, and bring those recommendations forward to the Technology Committee for approval.   • Proven leadership experience in IT operations, infrastructure, or technology services, or vendor-led operating models.
  • Deep experience managing MSPs and externally sourced IT teams.
  • Strong understanding of regulated environments, especially financial services.
  • Experience leading architectural recommendations with vendor support.
  • Strong ability to lead through influence, accountability, partnership, and clarity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting core systems, APIs, or financial technology platforms a plus.
  • Familiarity with NCUA, FFIEC, GLBA, or similar regulatory framework a plus.
  • Experience working with SOC/MDR providers and DR programs a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead IT Operations in a Vendor-Led Model
  • Provide oversight of daily IT operations including help desk, endpoint management, identity and access management, and core connectivity.
  • Lead a small internal IT team While reshaping roles over time to align with our simplified, outsourced technology model.
  • Ensure reliable operations through clear escalation paths, performance metrics, and strong coordination with vendors.
  • Establish and track service levels, performance metrics, and operational health using transparent dashboards.
  • Own Vendor & Partner Management
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for: Managed Service Provider (MSP) SOC/MDR provider Disaster Recovery and backup partners Infrastructure and Technology vendors
  • Drive expectations, performance reviews, contract management, and renewals.
  • Hold vendors accountable for proactive service, clear communication, escalations, and timely remediation.
  • Coordinate across vendors during incidents or outages to ensure issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Ensure external partners operate as an extension of the internal team with shared accountability for outcomes.
  • Architecture Leadership and Roadmap Execution
  • Lead technology architecture recommendations with vendor support.
  • Own delivery of the IT Roadmap.
  • Ensure architectural decisions align to: Enterprise operational needs Lending and deposit program scalability Infrastructure modernization Cloud Strategy
  • Bring architecture and vendor recommendations to the Technology Committee for decision and oversight.
  • Governance, Risk & Regulatory Support
  • Own IT governance artifacts including policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Lead vulnerability management coordination with internal teams and vendors, ensuring findings are tracked, remediated, and documented.
  • Support Risk and Compliance during exams, audits and assessments as the IT subject-matter expert.
  • Maintain documentation alignment with regulatory expectations including NCUA, FFIEC, GLBA, and third-party risk frameworks.
  • Review SOC reports, complementary user entity controls, and vendor audit evidence for compliance and remediation needs.
  • Disaster Recovery & Resiliency
  • Own disaster recovery strategy, planning, and testing cycles.
  • Ensure regular testing is performed, documented, and aligned with business continuity needs.
  • Coordinate DR readiness across internal teams and vendors.
  • Business Partnership & Planning
  • Serve as a trusted technology partner to the COO and operational leaders to translate enterprise initiatives into a practical, safe, and scalable technology execution.
  • Balance service quality, risk, cost, and vendor dependency when recommending solutions.
  • Manage technology budgets related to infrastructure, services, and vendor ecosystems with a strong focus on cost discipline.
