About The Position

The Vice President, System Strategy and Medical Foundation is the executive leader accountable for the strategic direction of the Medical Foundation (including medical group and IPA divisions), while also serving as the primary strategic partner to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) for MemorialCare's strategy. This role holds dual accountability: Medical Foundation Strategy: Owning the long-term plan, growth, and alignment of Memorial Care Medical Foundation, ensuring the Foundation's initiatives support and enhance the system's clinical and market objectives. Corporate Strategy Governance: Translating, communicating, and actively tracking the system's overall corporate strategy across all entities, with a focus on cross-entity alignment and performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years in strategy, management consulting, or corporate development within a large, multi-entity healthcare system. Extensive experience with integrated physician group models and the economics of physician enterprises.
  • Demonstrated experience managing executive-level governance processes and driving large-scale change management initiatives. Must be comfortable operating in a high-visibility role supporting the CSO.

Responsibilities

  • Foundation Strategic Ownership: Lead the development and execution of the strategic plan for the Medical Foundation, ensuring alignment with system-wide goals and market positioning.
  • Clinical Integration Strategy: Partner with clinical leadership to design strategies that optimize physician alignment, practice integration, clinical care pathways, and payer strategies to maximize the Foundation's value.
  • Growth and Alignment: Oversee the strategic planning for physician practice acquisition, employment models, and new care delivery models. Oversee the strategic direction and growth of key clinical and ancillary service lines within the Medical Foundation, ensuring alignment with system-wide priorities and market needs.
  • Performance: Drive rigorous financial and strategic analysis for all Foundation initiatives, ensuring robust business cases and measurable returns on investment (ROI) for Memorial Care Medical Foundation.
  • Portfolio Integration: Ensure that the Memorial Care Medical Foundation is fully integrated into the system's service portfolio, supporting both ambulatory and hospital growth objectives. Regularly convene with hospital VPs and the VP of Business Development to align on service line priorities, referral patterns, and market expansion strategies.
  • System Strategy Partnership: Work directly with the CSO and Executive Team to finalize and articulate the system's overarching corporate strategy, market positioning, and critical resource allocations.
  • Strategy Translation & Cascade: Translate executive-level corporate strategy into actionable, measurable mandates for all entity leaders (Hospital VPs and BD VP), ensuring clarity and accountability.
  • Performance Cadence: Design, manage, and facilitate the system's strategic planning and performance review cycle. Lead the assembly of materials for the Board of Directors and Senior Executive Committee, running all governance meetings focused on tracking system-level strategic progress.
  • Cross-Entity Alignment: Act as the strategic liaison between centralized corporate functions and operating entities, resolving conflicts and ensuring consistency in how the corporate strategy is implemented across the system.
