Role Overview: The VP, Risk Management is responsible for the leadership and oversight of all enterprise risk functions at Suffolk Credit Union, including Compliance, BSA/AML, Fraud, Information and Physical Security, Business Continuity, Vendor Management, and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) This role ensures Suffolk Credit Union maintains a strong risk-aware culture and adheres to all regulatory, operational, and strategic risk standards, while partnering with leadership to proactively identify and mitigate risks across the organization.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field required.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk analysis, regulatory requirements, and financial industry operations
  • Strong expertise in BSA/AML, fraud mitigation, compliance, and security of facilities and information
  • In-depth knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures
  • Proficient in Excel and skilled in analyzing complex financial and statistical data
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, and cross-functional team-building capabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with senior management
  • Effective independent problem-solver able to manage multiple complex deadlines
  • Exercises sound judgment, discretion, and responsibility with confidential information
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • ACAMS BSA Certificate, Compliance Officer Certification required (or obtained within two years of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Directs daily and long-term operations of Risk Management, including Compliance, Fraud, BSA/AML, ERM, Business Continuity, Vendor Management, and physical/information security
  • Leads, mentors, evaluates, and manages department staff in partnership with People Operations
  • Participates in strategic planning to identify, assess, and mitigate organizational risk
  • Develops and maintains risk analysis tools, methodologies, models, and risk tolerances
  • Oversees regulatory compliance programs, risk-based reviews, internal controls, and HMDA reporting
  • Manages fraud prevention across all products and delivery channels
  • Oversees all aspects of BSA/AML, including cannabis banking and law enforcement coordination
  • Serves as primary liaison with regulators, internal audit, and law enforcement; coordinates examinations and documentation
  • Manages enterprise-wide policies, vendor management program, and corporate insurance coverage
  • Oversees facility and information security, safety training, incident investigations, OSHA/ADA compliance
  • Leads Enterprise Risk Management, business continuity planning, risk assessments, and Board-level reporting
  • Manages member complaint resolution, compliance training, departmental budgets, and Board/Senior Management reporting
