The Vice President, Commercial Operations & Commerce is a senior leader responsible for driving profitable growth across direct digital channels (web, app, CRM) and third-party‑ marketplaces (e.g., Airbnb, Booking Holdings, Expedia Group/Vrbo), while building operational excellence across pricing, merchandising, inventory, payments, and partner commerce. This role owns commercial strategy and execution end-to-end—from demand generation and conversion to reservation quality and collections—aligning ‑cross functional‑ teams to deliver revenue, margin, and customer experience targets.

Requirements

  • 10–15+ years in commercial leadership (Revenue Management, eCommerce, Channel Distribution, or Marketplace Ops), ideally in hospitality, travel, or rentals.
  • Proven P&L ownership with demonstrated revenue/margin impact across direct and third-party‑ channels.
  • Deep expertise in pricing science, merchandising, OTA/marketplace dynamics, and payments/collections.
  • Fluency in analytics and testing (forecasting, elasticity, experimentation).
  • Comfortable with governance (PCI/privacy), contract negotiation, and partner SLAs.
  • Executive communication; builds alignment across Legal, Finance, Operations, IT/Product, and Marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Commercial Strategy & P&L Leadership Own the commercial plan (revenue, margin, bookings) across direct and partner channels; set OKRs and quarterly targets. Translate enterprise goals into channel specific‑ pricing, promotions, bundling, and inventory allocation strategies. Lead monthly/quarterly business reviews; course correct with test‑ and‑ ‑learn sprints.
  • Digital Commerce (Owned Channels) Partner with Product/UX to improve findability, PDP quality, checkout, and payment success; drive conversion rate, AOV, and cart recovery. Own merchandising, offers, and onsite search/ranking; operationalize promo governance and QA. Align CRM/lifecycle (email, push, loyalty/membership) to boost engagement, repeat, and LTV.
  • Marketplace & Partner Distribution Manage relationships with OTAs/marketplaces; negotiate terms, fees, SLAs, and data sharing. Optimize content health (rates, imagery, amenities, descriptions, reviews) and ranking algorithms. Ensure parity discipline and protect contribution margin via mix management and bid/boost tactics where applicable.
  • Payments, Collections & Commercial Operations Govern payment policies, tokenization, balance due collection, chargeback defense, and exceptions‑ handling. Standardize SOPs for reservation quality, modifications, cancellations, and refund logic; implement QA audits. Drive automation across manual processes; establish control frameworks to reduce leakage and bad debt.
  • Data, Analytics & Decision Velocity Stand up dashboards for Revenue, Margin, Conversion, Payment Success, Bad Debt, and Channel Mix. Institutionalized experimentation: rapid A/B tests on price fences, promos, PDP elements, and marketplace levers. Use predictive models for demand forecasting, price elasticity, and inventory prioritization.
  • Compliance, Risk & Governance Partner with Security/Compliance on PCI, privacy, and marketplace policy adherence; implement recurring controls. Establish promo and rate governance, disclaimer standards, and parity rules to limit regulatory/commercial risk.
  • Cross Functional‑ Leadership Align with Operations, Finance, Legal, IT/Product, and Brand to deliver end-to-end‑ outcomes. Coach high performing‑ leaders; build succession plans and talent pipelines.
