About The Position

Guidepost is seeking a Vice President for their Protective Services Division. This person is ideally located in the Bay Area but other locations in the greater Los Angeles area may be considered. The successful candidate will assist the Senior VP and team with identification, development, implementation and management of the various client’s global security strategies and programs. This leader will directly oversee business development and management of physical security operations, executive protection, digital vulnerability, threat assessment, crisis management and overall security programs. Additionally, start, build and nature relationships across a wide range of banks, law firms, family offices, and sports and entertainment individuals with the key focus of pursuing and closing business opportunities with in-house subject matter experts and managing all operational aspects of the engagement. This is a hybrid role, combining business development, as well as hands-on management for client engagement.

  • Candidates will have 10 -15+ years of prior work experience, preferably with another risk management consultancy, security firm, law enforcement agency, intelligence agency, or military branch.
  • Significant track record of solution-based business development across the West Coast market
  • A strong network within banks, international law firms, and tech companies
  • Experience working in security consulting.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients
  • Excellent teamworking and consulting skills
  • Highly responsive, able to respond to emerging issues after hours, on weekends, or on holidays.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex and growing global matrix structure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong, trust-based relationships with CSO’s and senior Security stakeholders, positioning Guidepost Solutions as a foundational element of their security and investigative practice areas.
  • Generate leads by building and maintaining relationships throughout the industry
  • Support priority client development through targeting, planning, and relationship growth
  • Evaluate customer needs and collaborate with teammates/management to identify the proper solutions based on our portfolio of products and services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization and work with cross-functional teams to identify and address program opportunities to further the client goals.
  • Establish customer relationships that enable the firm to be viewed as a trusted advisor.
  • Work closely with PSD leadership to develop and maintain client base and implement growth strategies
  • Build an effective pipeline and execute on each phase of the sales process
  • Prepare, present and negotiate proposals and contracts
  • Working with other practice areas and subject matter experts within Guidepost, lead client efforts with regards to internal investigations, digital vulnerability, threat assessments, Independent Security Studies (IRS Code 26, section 132), threat and vulnerability assessments, travel risk and cyber engagements.
  • Develop and direct effective strategies to assess and mitigate global security related risks, manage crises and incidents, and safeguard the client’s personnel and property
  • Coordinate and manage multi-faceted, international executive protection engagements
  • Develop your current professional network as a source of business and become a reliable partner trusted to advise clients, wealth advisors, or family offices on their needs and ensure seamless implementation of complex tasks
  • Prepare and execute on business development plans and strategies, including spearheading new initiatives and preparing and providing proposals to current and potential clients
  • Working with trusted contacts in the military, law enforcement and intelligence community, provide travel risk reporting for client’s overseas travel.
