About The Position

Dyne Therapeutics is focused on delivering functional improvement for people living with genetically driven neuromuscular diseases. We are developing therapeutics that target muscle and the central nervous system (CNS) to address the root cause of disease. The company is advancing clinical programs for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) as well as a preclinical programs for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) and Pompe disease. Role Summary: The Program Team Leader (PTL) is a passionate, globally minded drug developer who brings adaptable leadership, deep strategic product development expertise, and a relentless commitment to delivering transformative medicines to patients. As a highly visible leader, the PTL partners closely with an experienced Program Manager and a cross functional team to shape Program strategy, define goals and priorities, and chart an integrated plan that balances a future focused vision of global commercial access with the pragmatic decision-making needed to advance through complex development milestones. This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being a remote role.

Requirements

  • Experience in Phase 1-3 drug development is required; product launch/early commercialization experience a strong plus
  • Proven and respected leader with:
  • Advanced degree in Medical or Life Science, MD, PhD or MBA or equivalent
  • 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry in leadership positions in drug development and proven track record in driving Programs through IND, early clinical, pivotal stages and approval
  • And/or at least 12 years in pharmaceutical industry in significant development and/or commercial leadership or general management positions including working with development teams in cross-functional setting, with exceptional track record of delivering on business objectives, activity/milestones leading to filing and launching, and strong knowledge of neuromuscular diseases
  • Entrepreneurial team leader, able to shape and communicate the vision for an important therapeutic Program and guiding the development of the product strategy and its execution
  • Insightful people leader supporting and coaching high-caliber functional experts to achieve their absolute best
  • Collaborative corporate leader partnering with other senior leaders to shape and fulfil Dyne’s overall mission to develop and commercialize transformational therapeutics for people living with serious diseases
  • Orientation towards collective achievement and team credit, combined with individual sense of responsibility and accountability for teamwork and product
  • Adept at leading through ambiguity and provide steadiness and consistency among shifting priorities

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain credible and trust-based relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., KOLs, patient advocacy groups, regulators or investors)
  • Outstanding sense of urgency and ability to pace the team’s work to achieve milestone achievement in highly competitive landscape
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) and ability to clearly communicate complex ideas stakeholders and teams at all levels
  • Natural focus on team dynamics and proven ability to coach and support team members to perform at their best

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing, cross-functional Program Team by defining both the what (strategy, priorities, deliverables, and resources) and the how (a healthy, collaborative, and sustainable team environment).
  • Establish, communicate, and continually evolve a robust Program strategy to deliver a life-changing medicine to patients in need.
  • Ensure alignment of research, nonclinical, clinical, regulatory, CMC, and commercial strategies with the overarching Program strategy.
  • Serve as the primary owner of Program recommendations across all stages of development, driving toward milestones, timelines, and value-creating decision points.
  • Structure, facilitate, and drive timely, high-quality cross-functional decision-making with both the Program Team and senior leadership, ensuring all critical perspectives are appropriately considered.
  • Prepare and deliver high-impact materials for the Board of Directors, Scientific Advisory Board, and other key governance bodies.
  • Maintain clear, open, and proactive communication with senior leadership regarding Program strategy, progress, risks, dependencies, and resource needs.
  • Stay abreast of emerging scientific and development trends in muscle diseases and oligonucleotide drug discovery and development.
  • Build a visible, credible presence within the KOL and patient advocacy communities for the relevant disease areas.
  • Participate in business development activities as needed, including opportunity evaluations and due diligence.
  • Model and reinforce company values, especially during periods of rapid growth and change.
  • Serve as a primary advocate for the Program within the broader portfolio and corporate strategic context.
  • Collaborate with Finance and functional leaders to responsibly manage the Program budget.
  • Foster a culture of scientific excellence, innovation, open communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Actively coach and support team members to help them perform at their best, and identify or mitigate skill or capacity gaps within the team.
  • Consider needs of the Program in context of Dyne corporate strategy and priorities, as primary advocate for the Program among Dyne senior leadership
