About The Position

Role Summary As the Vice President, Organizational Development, you will lead the enterprise strategy for how Johnson Controls designs and builds a high‑performing, future‑ready organization. In this role, you will develop and scale the core organizational development products—Strategic Workforce Planning, Organizational Design, Change Management, and Culture Shaping—that strengthen our structure, capabilities, and leadership effectiveness. You will partner closely with senior executives to ensure we have the right roles, skills, and organizational clarity to deliver on our growth strategy and transformation. What you will do Johnson Controls is undergoing a major transformation powered by our Lean Business System and global talent engine. As the Vice President, Organizational Development (OD), you will lead the enterprise strategy for how we design, align, and evolve our organization to win. You will own the enterprise OD product portfolio—Strategic Workforce Planning, Organizational Design, Change Management, and Culture Shaping—ensuring these products are embedded into the core business operating rhythm, not run as HR programs. Your work will strengthen our organizational clarity, accelerate capability building, and ensure we have the right people in the right roles with the right skills at the right time.

Requirements

  • 10+ years progressive experience in Organizational Development, Organizational Effectiveness, Talent, Learning, or HRBP leadership.
  • Experience designing and deploying enterprise Strategic Workforce Planning and Organizational Design frameworks.
  • Success leading large-scale change management and capability-building initiatives.
  • Strong product mindset—roadmapping, iteration, standards, and governance.
  • Experience influencing senior executives and operating in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Ability to define success metrics and measure product impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with enterprise cultural transformation or Lean Operating Systems.
  • Leading OD in industrial, manufacturing, or global B2B environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own and build the Organization Development product portfolio
  • Build and govern enterprise playbooks, tools, and methodologies for: • Strategic Workforce Planning • Organizational Design • Change Management • Culture Shaping
  • Integrate these into long-range planning, budget cycles, talent reviews, and performance systems.
  • Establish product governance and enterprise standards
  • Define success measures and adoption standards for all OD products.
  • Set enterprise governance, roles, and decision-rights for OD‑related processes.
  • Build roadmaps and prioritize OD product evolution.
  • Build capability across HR and business leaders
  • Equip HRBPs, Talent Partners, and business leaders with toolkits, standard work, and training.
  • Enable leaders to independently apply OD methods in their organizations.
  • Build repeatable, scalable training programs.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Organization Development team
  • Lead a small expert team responsible for product design, analytics, tools, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive adoption, quality, and impact across the global enterprise.
