About The Position

The Vice President of Sourcing & Forecasting is responsible for the strategic leadership and execution of all procurement functions at Ocean Mist Farms. This includes oversight of raw material sourcing, packaging procurement, inventory control, and sustainable packaging initiatives across value-added, harvest, and field operations. The VP of Sourcing & Forecasting leads a cross-functional team and ensures alignment between procurement, harvest, sales, operations, sustainability, and marketing to meet quality, cost, and delivery standards. This role is accountable for developing a high-performing procurement organization and executing cost-saving strategies that support long-term growth and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Agriculture, or related field
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible procurement leadership experience, preferably in agriculture or perishable goods
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex supply chains including raw products, packaging, and inventory control
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate across departments
  • Advanced negotiation and vendor management skills with a history of achieving cost savings and process improvements
  • Knowledge of packaging materials, sustainability trends, and regulatory standards in the produce industry
  • Familiarity with inventory management software (Famous) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License and insurable
  • Ability to travel between all locations as needed

Responsibilities

  • Lead the company’s overall procurement function, managing direct reports including Procurement Managers, Inventory Control Manager, Packaging & Sustainability Manager, and Sr. Harvest Commodity Managers
  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide procurement strategies that support business goals across value-added, harvest, and packaging operations
  • Drive just-in-time raw material and packaging procurement to meet harvesting, processing, and sales demand with minimal waste
  • Oversee contract negotiations with vendors and growers to secure optimal terms related to quality, cost, availability, and delivery
  • Manage supplier performance and conduct regular reviews of service levels, pricing, compliance, and innovation opportunities
  • Align procurement efforts with sustainability goals, overseeing packaging innovation, compliance, and performance across all product lines
  • Collaborate with Marketing, QA, and Supply Chain teams to support packaging development, brand standards, and regulatory reviews
  • Ensure accurate inventory control practices across all sites, including carton yard operations, label billing, packaging trials, and cycle counts
  • Maintain visibility of harvesting forecasts, sales estimates, and field-level sourcing plans through collaboration with Senior Harvest Commodity Managers
  • Lead cross-functional packaging sustainability initiatives, track measurable goals, and drive environmental progress
  • Champion system improvements in procurement processes, vendor relations, inventory management, and packaging development
  • Guide team development, performance evaluation, and succession planning for all direct reports
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, food safety regulations, and customer requirements
