About The Position

Homebot is seeking a practical, hands-on Director, People Operations to lead and evolve the company's People function, reporting directly to the VP of Finance. This individual will own core People programs including recruiting, performance management, employee relations, and lifecycle operations, while partnering closely with leadership to enable team effectiveness and organizational performance. This is a player-coach role responsible for both refining existing infrastructure and executing day-to-day operations, balancing strategic judgment with high-quality execution in a lean, growth-oriented environment. This role builds on an existing People foundation, with a focus on optimization, consistency, and enabling managers to operate effectively—not creating programs from scratch.

Requirements

  • You bring 7–10 years of experience in People Operations, HR, or related roles, ideally within a SaaS or technology-driven environment.
  • You have experience owning core People functions end-to-end in a lean or growth-stage organization, ideally in the 50–150 employee range.
  • You demonstrate strong judgment in performance management and employee relations, with a clear understanding of how to balance risk, compliance, and business needs.
  • You have built and improved recruiting and performance management processes, with an emphasis on simplicity, effectiveness, and manager enablement rather than overly heavy programs.
  • You are comfortable operating as a player-coach, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a resource-conscious environment.
  • You communicate clearly and partner effectively with cross-functional leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • A positive, 'get it done' attitude with a willingness to roll up your sleeves.
  • A trusted, low-ego partner who works collaboratively with leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve People Operations across onboarding, performance management, and the full employee lifecycle.
  • Refine and optimize existing People systems and processes to increase clarity, consistency, and scalability across the organization.
  • Build and operate a recruiting engine that enables the company to consistently attract and hire high-quality talent.
  • Partner with leaders to anticipate hiring needs and prioritize roles based on business impact.
  • Coach managers, particularly within R&D, on setting clear expectations and managing performance in a practical, lightweight way.
  • Own employee relations matters with sound judgment, ensuring thoughtful, compliant, and business-aligned outcomes.
  • Ensure core People operations—benefits, leave, and employee support—run smoothly and deliver a high-quality employee experience.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to leadership, helping navigate team challenges, improve retention, and strengthen manager capability.

Benefits

  • employer-paid benefits
  • L&D stipend
  • incentive pay for eligible roles
