About The Position

The Vice President of Operations provides executive leadership over the company’s day-to-day manufacturing and operational functions, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and profitability across the enterprise. This role oversees production, planning and scheduling, materials management, procurement, and facilities operations, driving alignment between operational execution and organizational strategy. As a member of the senior leadership team, the VP of Operations partners closely with executive leadership to establish business objectives, support growth initiatives, and uphold the company’s values and performance standards. The role collaborates with Directors and Department Managers to communicate priorities, optimize resources, and resolve operational challenges. Through the analysis of key operational and financial metrics, the VP of Operations evaluates performance, identifies improvement opportunities, and implements initiatives that enhance productivity, cost control, and overall operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.
  • Residence within the core geographic territory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Bistrack, Salesforce, Dynamics).
  • Comfortable with public speaking and delivering presentations.
  • Proven ability to plan, develop, and motivate a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • Skilled at creating and delivering compelling presentations.
  • Ability to function effectively as part of the senior management team and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to instill these qualities in others.
  • Ability to project a professional and positive corporate image.
  • Strong capability to organize daily work, define departmental priorities, and manage workflow efficiently.
  • Experience evaluating processes and procedures, recommending improvements, and coordinating implementation of new strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (B.S. or B.A.); advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in manufacturing operations, preferably within the building materials or construction supply industry.
  • Proven ability to scale production capacity while maintaining quality, safety, and on‑time delivery performance.
  • Experience leading multi‑site manufacturing operations and coordinating with distribution centers or warehouse networks.
  • Strong supply chain expertise, including procurement strategy, vendor negotiations, raw material sourcing, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Financial acumen with demonstrated success in budgeting, cost control, and P&L management for large-scale manufacturing operations.
  • Track record of leading cross‑functional teams across production, quality, engineering, and logistics.
  • Experience implementing safety, compliance, and risk management programs aligned with OSHA and industry standards.
  • Background in new product introduction (NPI), operational ramp‑ups, and manufacturing process scalability.
  • Demonstrated change leadership, including continuous improvement, technology adoption, and building a culture of accountability and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and strategic oversight of all manufacturing, distribution, and operational functions, ensuring alignment with business objectives, safety standards, and customer expectations.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations including production, planning and scheduling, procurement, materials management, inventory control, and facilities.
  • Develop and manage operating, capital, and project budgets with accountability for cost control, margin performance, and return on invested capital.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate Managers, Directors, and senior operational leaders, fostering accountability, engagement, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with Human Resources on workforce planning, labor strategy, leadership development, performance management, and policy implementation.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies that support growth, scalability, and competitiveness in the building supply and construction materials market.
  • Optimize production output, capacity utilization, and service levels to improve on‑time delivery, customer satisfaction, and market position.
  • Drive enterprise‑wide continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing, productivity gains, and cost‑reduction efforts.
  • Maintain accountability for financial and operational performance, including manufacturing efficiency, quality, cost structure, asset utilization, procurement effectiveness, and inventory optimization.
