About The Position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assures that the philosophy and mission of MercyOne is represented in the operation and direction of assigned departments. Communicates and promotes a strong commitment to this mission. Serves as a leader within the Medical Group in creating, implementing and communicating the organization's mission through its strategic and tactical direction. Leads in key service, operational, and staff areas as assigned by the COO. Responsible for the stewardship of human, financial, and material resources; quality and efficient services; and the alignment of the services of the assigned areas to the strategic plan. Serves as a liaison to Trinity Heath and MercyOne by serving on various councils and task forces as assigned. Implements MercyOne programs and directives. Provides operational leadership to the MercyOne Medical Group. Supports the organization’s desire to achieve strategic initiatives by providing qualified and dedicated staff. In collaboration with the Medical Group COO, develops a strong team consisting of physician and administrative leadership to accomplish Medical Group operational and strategic goals. Standardizes operating procedures among all practice groups including scheduling and referrals, information systems, and patient accounts. Continually identifies, develops and implements new services to support the physician enterprise. Establishes policies and develops a training program to enhance service excellence. Engages staff, physicians and other leaders and subject matter experts in the development and implementation of MercyOne initiatives. Completes annual performance evaluations, accountability conversations, and disciplinary action of colleagues Participates in the physician contract review process, to nurture the employed physicians’ strategy, ambulatory quality initiatives, compliance and compensation standards development, and standardization of practice metrics for performance improvements. Ensures an appropriate level of understanding, awareness and compliance with all applicable federal, state and agency laws, regulations and guidelines, and professional standards. In collaboration with the Medical Group Leadership team, accountable for the financial viability and success of the MercyOne Medical Group. Responsible for fostering positive collaborating relationships with other departments and divisions. Provides input into department budget projections regarding physician recruitment costs. Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the MercyOne and Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to clients, physicians, employees, and MercyOne businesses. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with a high level of organizational skills and ability to manage and complete work in an efficient and thorough manner. Flexibility in handling and prioritizing completion of multiple tasks/projects in a timely and organized manner. Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of MercyOne. Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches any conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolutions. Assumes responsibility for the performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management. Must be able to set and organize one's own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful due to time constraints.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or related field required.
  • 7 years of increasingly responsible management positions in healthcare organizations, strong medical practice management experience required.
  • Must have excellent communication/interpersonal skills to deal effectively with physicians.
  • Frequently interacts with medical staff, employees and administration.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form.
  • Proven leadership skills in relationship to motivating and empowering staff
  • Must have the ability to set direction and lead with minimal direction from others; translate and communicate the organization's strategic plan into tactical and measurable goals.
