About The Position

Vice President, Land Development | Residential Developer / Homebuilder Land Development Strategy | Entitlements | Contractor & Agency Relationships A growing residential developer/homebuilder is seeking a Vice President of Land Development to lead land development execution and help shape long-term growth strategy in the Sacramento region. This leadership role will guide projects through development and entitlements, partner with senior leadership on strategic priorities, and provide the analytics and reporting needed to support smart, forward-looking decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 10+ years of proven land development experience, preferably in residential development/homebuilding.
• Strong knowledge of California federal, state, and local regulations impacting land development.
• Strong business acumen with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Well-developed analytics and reporting skills.
• Established relationships with brokers, contractors, and industry stakeholders.
• Professional presence and the ability to build trust internally and externally.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute land development strategy in partnership with senior leadership.
• Support projects through acquisition, entitlement, and development phases.
• Navigate zoning, environmental regulations, and city/county approval processes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with land development contractors and key external partners.
• Provide analytics, reporting, and strategic insights to support long-term business decisions.
• Partner cross-functionally with leadership to align land development priorities with company growth goals.
• Act as a values-driven leader, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
• Mentor and develop team members, supporting long-term career growth and succession planning.
