What you’ll do
Manage the Design, Bidding and Construction of Land Development projects, which includes being a liaison with Government Authorities, Consulting team members and contractors
Oversee project scheduling, budgeting, cash flows and other financial reporting
Support management with municipal approvals: draft plans, zoning, site plans, subdivision registration etc.
Obtain and/or oversee development approvals by working with multi-disciplined consultant teams and government authorities
Support the Project Managers with the engineering process including civil, landscaping, and utility drawing approval process
Build and maintain positive relationships within the organization and with Contractors, Municipalities, Agencies, and our Builders
Oversee the timely planning and engineering approvals for civil, landscaping, utilities, etc. to ensure that all approvals are obtained in a timely manner and according to the project’s schedule
Oversee project visioning process, pursue alternative design standards and process subdivision, utility, and development agreements
Initiate, manage and execute land development and planning approval schedules
Oversee land development budgets
Manage land team and ensure the timely completion of all deliverables
Oversee and review engineering and landscape design to meet schedules and achieve most timely/cost effective and customer friendly construction techniques & designs
Review overall earthwork strategies to minimize costs and avoid import/export of material
Review and analyze contract documents prior to award and negotiate prices and terms of contract (in consultation with the Vice President)
Assist Sr. Management with land development related issues

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture and/or Design or related field
• Minimum of 10 years business experience in the home building or real estate development industries, including extensive experience with the overall process from purchase of land through development of land
• Must have at least 10 years or more experience managing people and projects
• Proven leadership skills honed by success at senior management level of mid-sized to major corporations
• Must have sharp and analytical negotiating skills
• Understands the positive implications of being viewed as a Community leader
• Forward planning and thinking, scheduling, coordinating consultants, contractors, municipalities and internal resources
• Strategic execution: assisting in the development and implementation of project strategy; calling on the right people at the right time; challenging the process
• Exceptional Communication skills, both written and verbal including excellent written correspondence.
• Strong customer service orientation and approach
• Consistently balancing the interests of all stakeholders (municipal, political, partners, suppliers, environmental agencies, Builder, etc.); upholding the reputation of Mattamy to facilitate smooth application processes
