About The Position

IV.AI enables the world’s most iconic businesses and executives with AI-Powered Decision Making via a global AI platform and incredible team. A US based company based in Los Angeles, IV.AI is looking for a passionate, skilled, and driven VP of Engineering to join our growing team. We’re in the middle of a awkward growth spurt so we are looking for someone to come in and get their hands dirty with actively improving and managing our engineering processes and systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving hard problems, values clean architecture, and is eager to make an impact across the entire technical direction of the org. The role will be reporting directly into the CTO and will also take on management of engineering resources too.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of engineering management experience
  • Strong experience with one of the following: Python or TypeScript
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal
  • A collaborative spirit and desire to work cross-functionally
  • Someone how is passionate about software engineering and mentoring/managing engineers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud providers
  • Comfort working in a startup or fast-moving environment
  • Contributions to open source or side projects

Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale the engineering team through strategic hiring, mentoring, and performance management
  • Write and ship production code regularly - this is a hands-on technical leadership role (all engineering roles in our org are expected to ship code)
  • Work directly with Product Managers to define and execute the technical roadmap
  • Refine engineering processes, workflows, and best practices
  • Drive architectural decisions and ensure technical excellence across all systems
  • Partner with executive leadership to set technical vision and prioritize engineering initiatives
  • Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and capacity planning
  • Foster a strong engineering culture focused on innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Own system reliability, performance, and security across the entire technology stack
  • Report on engineering metrics, team health, and project progress to the CTO and executive team
