About The Position

As a seasoned VP of Engineering, the successful candidate will possess deep familiarity with the design, architecture, tradeoffs, and processes involved in deploying, running, and operating complex scalable SaaS Platforms like Workday which is built on Kubernetes, service mesh, state-of-the-art observability and security stacks, and a custom in-memory object management system. This pivotal role requires the ability to transform strategic initiatives into high-velocity, auditable processes to meet critical go-live dates. The ideal leader will demonstrate a proven track record of building and leading teams responsible for infrastructure architecture, platform reliability, automation, cloud operations, and service delivery within highly regulated security compliance boundaries. This includes experience with IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models, as well as CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies. Additionally, this role involves strategic management of a significant operational and capital expenditure budget, prioritizing investments to maximize business value, mitigate risk, and drive transformational change. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; an advanced degree (e.g., M.S., MBA) is preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or cloud/SaaS operations, with 7+ years in an executive leadership role (VP or SVP level) managing global, complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role supporting high-assurance, compliance-driven environments, particularly within the U.S. Federal Government sector or a major government contractor.
  • Experience leading mission critical SaaS platforms
  • Strong understanding of ZTA (Zero Trust Architecture) and NIST 800-53 principles and experience with designing and implementing both in modern SaaS environments.
  • Strong understanding of availability, performance, SRE, metrics, monitoring, cloud cost management, capacity planning, cloud security is important.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, multi-cloud, service mesh, Observability stacks, IaC (Infrastructure as Code)
  • 15+ years of progressive experience, with 7+ years in an executive (VP or SVP) role
  • Experience with agile, scrum, scrum of scrums and other models to create real time visibility into execution status
  • Ability to engage in active technical tradeoffs

Nice To Haves

  • Clearance is preferred
  • Experience with taking products through the ATO process (e.g. Fedramp, DoD IL4/5, Top Secret) is preferred.
  • Strong foundation in data residency and sovereign cloud concepts is a plus.
