As a senior leader within the company and its Legal Department, the VP of Global Government Affairs will lead the organization s engagement with government entities, policymakers, and regulatory bodies at international, federal, state, and local levels. The role involves developing and executing a comprehensive, globally oriented government affairs strategy to advance the company s objectives, mitigate risks, and build strong relationships with governments, regulators, international organizations, trade associations, and other external stakeholders worldwide. Additionally, this role will support the company s government sales efforts by ensuring alignment between business priorities and government policies globally. Success in this role requires strong leadership, deep understanding of the global legislative and regulatory landscape, and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or a related field.
  • 20+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related field, with proven leadership in international and domestic settings
  • Significant experience navigating legislative and regulatory processes across multiple jurisdictions, including federal, state, and international levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (e.g., JD, MBA, or Master s in Public Policy) not required but preferred
  • Experience in a technology company or a highly regulated industry is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to work well in an environment where coordination and teamwork with legal and business associates is a priority.
  • Ability to lead and thrive in a globally matrixed environment.

  • Deep understanding of global policy trends, government procurement processes, and regulatory landscapes.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a global government affairs strategy that aligns with the company s business objectives and strengthens its reputation across international markets.
  • Advise the executive leadership team on legislative, regulatory, and political developments that may impact the company at global, federal, state, and local levels.
  • Lead a high-performing, globally focused government affairs function, fostering collaboration, accountability, and excellence across regions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, regulatory agencies, and industry associations worldwide to advocate for the company s positions on critical global and regional public policy issues.
  • Represent the company in discussions with legislators, regulators, and key stakeholders at international, federal, state, and local levels.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the company and global government entities, ensuring timely communication and collaboration across jurisdictions.
  • Policy Development and Advocacy: Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments across international and domestic markets, providing strategic insights and recommendations to the executive team.
  • Develop company position with the executive team and designated business unit leads and internal stakeholders.
  • Communicate the company s positions on global and regional policy issues, preparing advocacy tools such as testimony, comment filings, briefing materials, and policy papers.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams, including legal, compliance, public relations, and government sales, to ensure consistency in messaging and alignment with business priorities.
  • Select and oversee a global network of external government relations firms, lobbyists, and legal advisors.
  • Support for Government Sales: Collaborate with the government sales team to identify and address legislative and regulatory opportunities and challenges that could impact business development globally.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with government procurement agencies and other relevant entities to facilitate business opportunities in international, federal, state, and local markets.
  • Provide strategic guidance to support the company s bids, contracts, and partnerships with government bodies across all levels.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Identify and mitigate risks associated with global legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring compliance with lobbying disclosure and reporting requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on government affairs and compliance matters, emphasizing global and regional variations
