About The Position

The Vice President of Finance is responsible for overseeing the accounting and program finance functions, including financial operations, payroll, compliance, and strategic financial leadership. This position plays a critical role in shaping ARA’s financial strategy and long-term business planning, ensuring fiscal integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance with all applicable laws and government contracting requirements (FAR, DFARS, DCAA). The Vice President of Finance will work closely with the CFO, CEO, and senior leadership to drive profitability, optimize performance, and position the company for sustainable growth, while also managing day-to-day financial operations to support smooth and efficient business operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including at least 7 years in senior management or executive-level role.
  • Proven success leading finance functions within a manufacturing and/or government contracting environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, FAR, DFARS, DCAA, and government compliance requirements.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic financial plans, managing budgets, and leading financial operations at scale.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost control, financial modeling, capital management, and performance measurement.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Costpoint, SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced financial analytics tools.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with external auditors, investors, and government entities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required
  • CPA or CMA certification required

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and direction to the organization, aligning financial strategy with corporate objectives.
  • Oversee and manage all financial operations, including accounting, cash management, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, and support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, systems, and controls to support corporate growth and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with the CFO and executive leadership to develop and execute business strategies, mergers/acquisitions, capital planning, and investment initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with government contract accounting requirements (FAR, DFARS, DCAA) and other applicable financial regulations.
  • Direct the preparation and analysis of consolidated financial statements, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with GAAP.
  • Provide financial oversight and guidance on manufacturing operations, inventory valuation, and cost accounting.
  • Collaborate with program managers, contracts, and operations teams to ensure contract profitability and efficient resource allocation.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, tax authorities, and government agencies.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks while fostering innovation in financial processes and systems.
  • Recruit, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team, promoting accountability and professional development.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Other duties assigned by the CFO.
