The Vice President, Corporate Controller at Worldpac is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization’s core financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, tax, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions. Reporting directly to the CFO, the VP Corporate Controller ensures the financial integrity and regulatory compliance of the company while driving continuous improvement in accounting processes and systems. This role manages a large team of managers and staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including Controller and Assistant Controller roles
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, SOX, and financial reporting standards.
  • Proven experience in managing complex financial operations in a multinational organization in product based industries
  • Demonstrated success in leading process improvement initiatives and establishing policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting standards, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
  • Advanced proficiency in preparing, reviewing, and presenting complex financial statements
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidations and intercompany accounting
  • Design, implementation, and monitoring of robust internal control frameworks
  • Policy development, risk assessment, and remediation of control deficiencies
  • Regulatory compliance management across multiple jurisdictions
  • Oversight of federal, state, local, and international tax compliance and reporting
  • Coordination of tax planning, audits, and relationships with external tax advisors
  • Knowledge of indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and tax provision processes
  • Management of AR and AP processes, including credit policies, collections, vendor management, and payment cycles
  • Optimization of working capital and cash flow through effective receivables and payables strategies
  • Reconciliation, aging analysis, and dispute resolution
  • Implementation and integration of ERP and financial systems
  • Identification and execution of process automation and efficiency initiatives
  • Data integrity management and system controls
  • Coordination of annual audits and timely resolution of audit findings
  • Preparation of regulatory filings and disclosures
  • Liaison with external auditors and regulatory agencies
  • Building, mentoring, and leading high-performing accounting teams
  • Clear, concise communication of complex financial information to diverse audiences
  • Influencing cross-functional teams and driving change management
  • Advanced financial analysis, anomaly detection, and root cause investigation
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of data for actionable insights
  • Strategic thinking with a focus on operational excellence
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation required

Nice To Haves

  • Background working with Private Equity-owned organizations is preferred.
  • Previous experience in public accounting is advantageous.
  • MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, financial statement preparation, and multi-entity consolidations in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Manage and optimize financial systems and processes to support high-volume transactions and business growth.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely resolution of findings and implementation of recommendations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor changes in accounting and financial regulations, ensuring company-wide adherence.
  • Establish, review, and update accounting policies and procedures to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee all aspects of tax compliance, including federal, state, local, and international tax filings.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and authorities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax reporting, remittance, and planning.
  • Direct the AR and AP functions, ensuring efficient, accurate, and timely processing of high-volume transactions.
  • Monitor aging reports, collections, and implement effective credit and vendor management policies.
  • Oversee payment processing, reconciliations, and dispute resolution.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a change agent, driving adoption of best practices and new technologies.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, building professional credibility and trust.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support business operations and strategic initiatives.
