About The Position

Plans, organizes, and directs the financial activities of Covenant Health to provide timely and accurate financial information allowing effective decision making for External Financial Reports, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Tax, General, Clinical, Corporate and Grant Accounting and non-patient Accounts Receivable. This includes financial entity reporting and balance sheet analysis. Duties also include direct supervision of Clinical and Corporate Accounting, Property Accounting, Tax, Accounts Payable, Cost Report, Reimbursement, Payroll, Fixed Assets and Joint Ventures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Advanced degree or CPA required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years progressive management accounting experience; five (5) or more years of health care experience a plus; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced degree or CPA required.

Responsibilities

  • Directs preparation of external Financial Entity Reporting and Month End Close.
  • Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
  • Coordinates and directs the external audits of corporate accounts.
  • Serves as the corporate liaison with independent auditors and communicates to the Audit Committee as needed.
  • Develops and maintains financial policies and procedures.
  • Directs preparation and ensures timely filing of reports required by regulatory agencies. Assists with the coordination of the Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and monthly, quarterly, and annual filing of all tax returns.
  • Manages tasks within system finance relating to record keeping, reports, and analysis in conformance to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Recommends and leads various finance system implementation and change management projects.
  • Maintains working knowledge of corporate structure, practices, and policies.
  • Designs and maintains accurate internal and external reports.
  • Monitors, improves, and streamlines communications, information gathering, and information disbursement.
  • Ensures the knowledge enhancement and professional development of Finance personnel.
  • Recommends merit increases, promotions, and terminations of Finance personnel.
  • Provides direct leadership for key Finance leaders such as General Accounting, Property Accounting, Tax, Reimbursement, Payroll, and Accounts Payable.
  • Ensures C-Suites at member hospitals have data required to monitor and manage assets.
  • As needed, provides Financial reporting and outcomes to the Board and Finance Committee.
  • Monitors industry developments and regulatory trends and ensures legal compliance with all.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills within all levels of the organization.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
