About The Position

The Complex Assets Group at Fidelity Charitable works with philanthropists, their professional advisors and issuer counsel to facilitate charitable donations of complex assets such as equity interests in privately held C corporations, S corporations, limited partnerships (including private equity, hedge fund and other alternative investment vehicles) and limited liability companies. The VP of Complex Assets will manage the acceptance, oversight and liquidation of a wide variety of complex assets on behalf of Fidelity Charitable from initial inquiry to completion of charitable transfers, post-acceptance oversight and closings/funding of Giving Accounts upon liquidation of contributed assets. You will work directly with donors and their advisors through the entire charitable giving process. You will review assets for acceptance following thorough due diligence and assessment of risk, including securities disclosure in connection with public and private M&A activity. You will engage with and develop strong working relationships with donors, corporate issuers, in-house and outside counsel, C-suite executives and investor relations teams. You will travel to the territories you support to engage the advisor community, deepen relationships and deliver effective practice management presentations. You will work closely with internal partners to evolve, develop and deliver highly impactful practice management modules, strategic marketing and thought leadership.

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S degree required, J.D. required
  • Minimum of 5 years of law firm or in-house experience preferred
  • Experience in taxation, private equity, and the private capital ecosystem desired
  • 5+ years relationship management experience
  • Experience working with financial intermediaries, T&E attorneys, CPAs, CFPs for wealth planning purposes
  • Experience and high level of competence in the areas of due diligence and assessment of risk, including product liability and securities disclosure in connection with public M&A activity
  • You are dynamic and personable and have a proven track record of taking the lead.
  • You have demonstrated a strong work ethic and are a continual learner.
  • You have superior time-management skills and the ability to prioritize and respond to competing requests.
  • You have excellent influencing capabilities and an interest in 'teaching' experts new tricks.
