About The Position

The Vice President, Communications & Media Relations, will serve as an integral part of the Warner Bros. Television Group Publicity & Communication leadership team, working closely with the Executive Vice President, Publicity & Communications, to lead strategic business communications that drive divisional goals forward and shape the Studio brand. In this role, the VP will be responsible for spearheading strategic business/trade communications across all WBTVG productions, including live-action scripted, unscripted, and animation. This includes leading media relations efforts; crafting business and trade announcements for overall deals, development, series orders, executive hires, and more; and identifying, developing, and leading impactful campaigns that elevate the Studio, its programming, and its leadership team. The VP will also work in tandem with EVP to manage all facets of executive communications, internal communications, and managing crisis response. In addition, the VP will also oversee the written communications department, charged with writing, editing and proofing of all publicity, marketing communications, and servicing materials for all WBTVG divisions. The VP will also help supervise day-to-day publicity activities related to programming from the Warner Bros. Television production division.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years entertainment publicity experience required.
  • Previous experience in television required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of entertainment industry required.
  • Must have strong understanding of the media landscape and social media.
  • Extensive entertainment trade and consumer press contacts.
  • Experience effectively working with and successfully building positive relationships with high-profile executives; experience working with producers, on-camera talent, and below-the-line talent highly desired.
  • Previous experience supervising agency and/or in-house publicity staff preferred.
  • College degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Must be well organized.

Responsibilities

  • Business/Trade Communication: In conjunction with EVP, manage and execute day-to-day aspects of strategic business/trade communications, including announcements, messaging, responding to press inquiries, development and series orders, casting, program descriptions, and more.
  • Manages and oversees Communications and Written Communications department— supervising creation of publicity, marketing and sales materials such as press kits, press releases, series descriptions, executive, talent and producer bios, staff and program announcements, messaging documents, ads, pitch letters, sales sheets, brochures and more, for WBTVG divisions and other Studio clients
  • Executive Communications: Works closely with EVP and the communications leadership team to position WBTVG executives as industry leaders through pitching strategic media opportunities, speaking opportunities and inclusion on relevant industry lists. This includes crafting messaging and talking points and leading media briefing sessions to prep executives for various opportunities.
  • WBTV Oversight: Oversees publicity activities for programming from Warner Bros. Television, working closely with publicity team assigned to these series.
  • Departmental Leadership: Works closely with EVP, as part of departmental senior team to provide leadership and direction to — and develop growth opportunities for — publicity staff. Contributes to managing activities of department under direction of EVP. Develops new strategies and refine processes to department benefit.
  • WBTV Oversight: Oversees publicity activities for programming from Warner Bros. Television, working closely with publicity team assigned to these series.
  • Crisis Response: Plays an integral role in all crisis management efforts for the Studio, including developing response strategies, crafting messaging and statements, and communicating directly with journalists.
  • Internal Communications: In tandem with EVP, spearheads WBTVG’s internal communications strategy, identifying and developing key initiatives that showcase the Studio’s successes across the wider WBD organization, and helps foster a cohesive culture within the Studio.
  • Works closely with Creative Services team, prioritizing workload, delegating responsibilities within Written Communications and making process improvements for added productivity.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
