About The Position

The VP, Client Strategy and Brokerage is the senior leader responsible for the client strategy, renewal, and brokerage execution side of Lumity, an Alera Group company. This is a senior leadership role focused on strengthening Lumity’s market-facing client model. The leader will drive renewal strategy, carrier negotiations, executive-level client engagement, and overall brokerage execution, while partnering closely with operations leadership to ensure strategy, service, and execution stay aligned. This role requires someone who can lead from the front with clients and carriers, bring discipline and credibility to the brokerage side of the business, and help shape a model that is built to scale responsibly. Requirements

  • Demonstrated success leading employee benefits strategy, renewals, and carrier negotiations in a brokerage or consulting environment.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to engage HR leaders, CFOs, and senior decision-makers with confidence and credibility.
  • Deep understanding of employee benefits plan design, funding strategy, renewals, market positioning, and client retention.
  • Experience supporting or leading client-facing teams, with a track record of raising standards and developing talent.
  • Strong business judgment with the ability to balance growth, client needs, and operational discipline.
  • Clear, confident communicator who can influence internally and externally and bring structure to a growing business.
  • Life and Health license strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
  • Relevant industry designations such as CEBS are encouraged.
  • Advanced degrees are a plus, not a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Own the client strategy and brokerage execution side of the Lumity business, with primary accountability for renewal leadership, carrier strategy, executive-level client engagement, and retention support.
  • Lead complex renewals, quoting strategy, and carrier negotiations for priority clients and high-impact opportunities.
  • Partner with benefits consultants and account-facing teammates to improve the quality, consistency, and professionalism of renewal presentations and client strategy discussions.
  • Engage directly with CFOs, senior HR leaders, and other decision-makers to position Lumity as a credible strategic partner.
  • Support quarterly business reviews, renewal meetings, and broader strategic client conversations.
  • Bring stronger financial and strategic framing to client discussions, particularly with employers evaluating long-term benefits decisions.
  • Help define Lumity’s brokerage approach, including ideal client profile, engagement model, and market positioning.
  • Partner with sales and business development to ensure new opportunities align with Lumity’s service model and operational capacity.
  • Support internal Alera Group relationship development by helping field partners understand what Lumity is, when to use it, and how it creates value.
  • Contribute to the continued refinement of producer economics, engagement structure, and go-to-market messaging.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to the client-facing brokerage and consulting side of the team.
  • Set clear standards around executive communication, renewal readiness, strategic thinking, and presentation quality.
  • Partner with operations leadership to improve role clarity, handoffs, and accountability between strategy, sales, and service.
  • Help develop a stronger bench of client-facing talent over time.
  • Work closely with Lumity operations leadership to ensure client strategy is practical, profitable, and aligned with service delivery.
  • Partner with internal Alera Group resources and specialty teams as needed to improve outcomes for clients and support the broader Lumity model.
  • Help identify where additional structure, process, or leadership alignment is needed to better support growth.
