Superior Insurance Partners is a rapidly growing insurance brokerage platform, focused primarily on providing commercial lines, personal lines, and employee benefit solutions to companies and individuals. Superior is backed by Tyree & D'Angelo Partners (“TDP”), a leading Chicago-based private equity firm that makes control ownership investments in, and partners with, lower middle market businesses with the goal of creating meaningful value for all involved. TDP is currently investing out of its third fund and has managed and created over $3 billion of capital and company enterprise value. TDP has significant experience investing in service businesses and has completed over 1000 investment partnerships in its history. We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Vice President of Carrier Relations to lead and scale SIP’s carrier partnerships across the platform. This executive-level role is responsible for building strong carrier relationships, leading contract negotiations, aligning carrier strategy with growth initiatives, and ensuring market access that supports producer success and long-term profitability. The Vice President of Carrier Relations will serve as the primary executive liaison between SIP and its carrier partners and will work closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership to support organic growth, acquisitions, and new market expansion.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in insurance brokerage, carrier relations, underwriting, or related leadership roles
  • Demonstrated success managing executive-level carrier relationships and negotiating complex agreements
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance markets; specialty, middle market, or benefits experience a plus
  • Experience supporting multi-office or acquisition-driven organizations preferred
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and execution-oriented mindset
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills

Responsibilities

  • Build, strengthen, and manage executive-level relationships with national, regional, and specialty insurance carriers
  • Serve as SIP’s primary point of contact for carrier leadership
  • Lead strategic discussions focused on performance, growth opportunities, underwriting alignment, and market expansion
  • Lead negotiation of carrier contracts, commission structures, contingencies, and incentive programs
  • Provide leadership and direction for the carrier contracting function
  • Ensure carrier agreements align with SIP’s financial goals and producer compensation strategy
  • Evaluate and onboard new carrier partners to support new markets, niches, and acquisitions
  • Collaborate with carrier partners to develop differentiated programs and enhanced product offerings
  • Monitor underwriting appetite, rate trends, capacity, and market conditions
  • Drive carrier participation in platform-wide strategic initiatives, including specialty practices and geographic expansion
  • Support M&A integration by aligning carrier access for newly acquired agencies
  • Establish KPIs and reporting standards related to carrier performance, profitability, and service quality
  • Analyze results and develop corrective action plans as needed
  • Present insights, risks, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
  • Partner with Sales Leadership and Practice Groups to ensure carrier programs support producer growth
  • Align carrier appetite with recruiting and onboarding of new producers
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on carrier guidelines, appetite changes, and competitive positioning
