About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytically-driven finance and business operations professional to serve as a strategic partner to the Brand organization at one of the world's leading global financial institutions. This role sits within the Brand Strategy Office and is responsible for driving financial discipline, operational excellence, and business resiliency across a large, complex marketing budget. This is a hands-on, execution-oriented role. The right person is a skilled financial analyst with deep budget management expertise, expert-level Excel proficiency, and the business acumen to translate complex financial data into clear stories that drive decision-making at the highest levels of the organization. You will work directly with the CBO, CFO, and CMO — and you need to be equally comfortable building a macro from scratch and presenting findings to a C-suite audience. Candidates must bring strong judgment and an unwavering commitment to confidentiality. This role manages sensitive information including headcount, budget, and transformation activities across the Brand org. Location: New York City preferred. Open to Jersey City, NJ · Chicago, IL · Columbus, OH · Wilmington, DE Contract Start: Late April/Early May Contract Term: 6-8 months with potential to extend Working Hours: 40 hours/week, 5 days in office required Compensation: $80/hr Please note: our client uses VP leveling differently in their titles. This is not a true VP-level role and there is not people management duties. This is a mid-to-senior level doer

Requirements

  • Strong finance or business management background with hands-on experience managing large, complex budgets — financial analyst experience strongly preferred
  • Expert Excel proficiency — you can build dashboards, write macros, and work through large datasets independently and from scratch. This is a hard requirement.
  • Experience generating detailed financial and operational reporting for C-suite stakeholders
  • Highly organized, process-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams simultaneously — this role requires someone who is hands-on and willing to do the work, not just direct it
  • Strong communicator — able to present financial data and operational insights to both finance and non-finance audiences
  • Proven ability to navigate complex, matrixed organizations with minimal oversight
  • Exceptional judgment around confidentiality — this role manages sensitive information including headcount, budget details, and transformation activities and discretion is non-negotiable

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with procurement and payment systems (ARIBA, OPTIMA, or similar) a strong plus
  • Experience with Workfront or comparable project/resource management platforms strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with marketing operations, campaign planning, or agency/retainer management a plus
  • Exposure to AI transformation initiatives, governance frameworks, or process roadmap development a plus
  • Marketing or agency experience is a plus, but financial rigor, analytical precision, and operational discipline are what matter most here.

Responsibilities

  • Budget Management & Governance - Own ongoing budget planning, governance, and oversight across Brand discretionary spend and cross-LOB shadow budgets — including dedicated budgets for creative and research. Track and validate spend across all budget lines, assess ROI, and ensure financial discipline at every stage.
  • Financial Reporting & Dashboard Development - Build and maintain detailed reports and dashboards for the CBO, CFO, CMO, and LOBs on a monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc basis. Develop macros, evaluate large datasets, and create audience-specific decks that communicate financial and operational insights clearly. Leverage Workfront to build or enhance dashboards tracking resource allocation, capacity, and campaign planning.
  • Business Strategy & Performance Tracking - Guide strategic decision-making by developing business cases and tracking performance against goals. Partner with leadership to identify opportunities for cost optimization and operational efficiency across all Brand activities.
  • Contract, Invoice & Payment Management - Process and track invoice payments, ensuring timely completion through payment tools including ARIBA, OPTIMA, EXPRESS PAY, APX, and ICM systems. Partner with sourcing and procurement teams to support retainer negotiations and manage retainer-based engagements.
  • Process & Operations Management - Drive process improvement and operational efficiencies across Brand activities. Function as a liaison between the Brand Strategy team and brand managers on budget management. Proactively identify and resolve issues impacting Brand operations, including day-to-day inquiry management
  • AI Transformation Support - Collaborate with Brand leadership, creative teams, and Tech to design process roadmaps supporting the Brand's AI transformation initiative. Help establish governance frameworks and assess the financial and operational viability of AI initiatives — including Workfront reporting enhancements and a centralized Campaign dashboard. Develop, track, and report on key metrics and progress, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and anticipated ROI. Partner cross-functionally to obtain requirements, secure executive approvals, and ensure compliance with strategic initiatives.
