About The Position

The Andersen Division General Counsel, in alignment with the Chief Legal Officer, is dedicated to providing proactive legal advice to the Andersen Division business to enable execution of its strategic plan, while mitigating risk to the business. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in all areas of corporate law, litigation, compliance and risk. The delivery and oversight of legal services to the business is accomplished by the General Counsel alongside Andersen’s internal legal department and outside counsel, who will be utilized as business needs require.

Requirements

  • Juris doctor degree from an accredited law school of recognized standing; current license to practice law in Minnesota; as well as admissions to the appropriate federal and state bar(s).
  • 15 or more years of broad-based experience as a practicing attorney in a corporate or law firm environment (preferably both).

Responsibilities

  • Active member of the Andersen Operating Committee, providing legal advice, strategic leadership and cross‑functional insight to support business objectives.
  • Oversee and manage the delivery of legal services to the Andersen Division by in-house and outside counsel in all legal matters impacting the business, including but not limited to, all areas of corporate law, employment law, litigation, compliance and risk.
  • Provide pragmatic legal counsel to the business across a broad range of matters impacting the business, ensuring reliable, cost-effective and timely legal advice and support.
  • Stay up to date on relevant legal developments and develop pragmatic legal guidance for the business accordingly.
  • Anticipate and guard against legal risk facing the business and contribute to the development of company policy and positions on legal issues.
  • Advise on a wide variety of commercial transactions with key customers and suppliers.
  • Lead, provide legal advice to, and support major transactions.
  • Partner closely with senior business leadership counterparts across Operations, Distribution, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, R&D, etc.
  • Anticipate and guide steps to mitigate against legal risks facing the business.
  • Provide legal counsel to the business on issues arising from actual or anticipated litigation and provide strategy and solutions for settlement of cases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer.
