About The Position

Project 26 Pennsylvania, founded in 2023, is a student and youth voter focused organization working across the commonwealth to engage, register, educate, persuade, and mobilize young voters to become active participants in our shared civic landscape. Our goal is to promote and expand democracy in Pennsylvania by elevating youth leadership in order to get organized, vote in key elections, and exercise our power to take control of our lives through civic engagement. In 2026 Project 26 Pennsylvania is expanding our fellowship team to include a Voter Protection specific team. These fellows will be working to support Project 26’s non-partisan voter protection and student voter advocacy efforts both on their campuses and within their respective counties. These roles will be focused in areas where a student voice is most needed in the conversation with decision makers.

Requirements

  • Active enrollment in a 2 or 4 year institution in Pennsylvania
  • Availability to take on 10 - 15 hours a week of work outside of existing commitments
  • Experience voting on campus (good, neutral, or bad)
  • Experience talking to peers and participating in groups that focus on an issue
  • Creative approaches to information sharing, design, and communication
  • Interest in advocating for yourself and your peers directly to local government officials
  • Motivation to see youth voices taken more seriously by decision makers on and off campus
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve & work independently
  • Interest in seeing increased voter turnout on campus in 2026
  • Ability to travel (by car, rideshare, or public transit) when needed

Responsibilities

  • Preparing for, attending, participating in, and reporting on relevant county meetings
  • Working to understand the nuances of how election administration impacts your campus
  • Recruiting fellow students to serve as poll workers in the Fall 2026 General Election
  • Developing relationships directly with county board of election offices to have conversations about student voting issues
  • Finding avenues on campus for direct engagement between the board of elections & students or admin to better that relationship
  • Participating in voter registration drives
  • Preparing campus specific voter education materials as well as communication / distribution plans for maximum saturation
  • Voter registration spot checking / quality control
  • County scrub of county board of election websites, social media accounts, and local press coverage to flag any changes to election programming that may affect P26 voters
  • Regular check ins with Voter Protection leadership
  • Coordination with other campus fellowship teams, if applicable

Benefits

  • Compensation is $18/hr
  • A travel stipend or mileage reimbursement for all role specific travel
