About The Position

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB Coordinates and helps lead hospital volunteers. Assist with on-boarding and training volunteers. Responsible for managing specific components of volunteer events and projects. Participates in various capacities in support of special hospital functions and projects. REPORTS TO Director-Volunteer Services & Progams JOB REQUIREMENTS Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes. Supervision of volunteers (adult and teen). Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Associate or Bachelor's Preferred License/Certification Required: None Minimum Work Experience: 5 years of non-profit managment preferred REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES High energy and enthusiasm; strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task; accuracy and attention to detail; excellent problem solving skills; ability to form strong interpersonal relationships; strong written and verbal communication skills; sound judgment and integrity; strong delegation and teaming skills; flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances; excellent customer service skills; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develops and implements volunteer program components ensuring correct adherence to policies and procedures including interviewing, placement and orientation of select positions. Assists with all other volunteer programs for the hospital. Coordinates volunteers and work areas leading to effective and efficient delivery of service to staff, patients, families and visitors. Conducts volunteer interviews, placements, orientation, and training to assure compliance with hospital policies. Maintains accurate department files and records, volunteer data, and mailing lists. Conducts ongoing education for volunteers, which assures compliance with hospital policies. Assists with plans, materials and records for meetings and special events to ensure timely and effective operations. Ensures orderly maintenance of materials for work areas to insure timely and accurate supplies and information. Develops systems and maintains data to insure accurate and timely records and reports. Assists in evaluating services, volunteers and activities leading to appropriate decisions, counseling, coaching and productivity. Assists in developing recognition programs and functions which maximize volunteer satisfaction and encourages loyalty and commitment. Assists with specified community volunteer projects by providing orderly systems, files and data management. Assists and supports Children’s Hospital Volunteers (CHV) in their organization’s activities. Oversees adult volunteer placements for all cart positions (Arts & Crafts Cart, Family Cart, Movie Cart and Book Cart). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Medium lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-20 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 100 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching and standing are required.
