About The Position

Good Shepherd Community Care, named by the Boston Globe as one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts for the last four years, is a community-based, mission-driven hospice and palliative care organization. They are seeking a Volunteer Program Coordinator to join their dynamic Volunteer Program Department. The Volunteer Program engages and coordinates volunteers who offer compassionate support to hospice and palliative care patients and provide essential administrative assistance to the organization. This is a hybrid position. Good Shepherd Community Care is one of the most trusted health care organizations in Greater Boston focusing on hospice and palliative care, founded as Hospice of the Good Shepherd in 1978. They are an independent, not-for-profit, non-sectarian organization committed to mutual respect, acceptance, and diversity, honoring the dignity of each individual through care, support, and education.

Requirements

  • College Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and thoroughness are essential
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Comfort with multitasking
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work in close partnership with staff and volunteers to support coordinated, team-based efforts
  • Demonstrated computer skills (comfort creating and working with spreadsheets)

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Russian, Spanish, or Chinese is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Help oversee all aspects of the Volunteer Program at Good Shepherd Community Care, including recruitment and retention, training, record maintenance, volunteer placement, and recognition of volunteers
  • Ensure compliance with the level of volunteer service required by regulations
