About The Position

The Volunteer Manager is a key part of the advancement team at New Life Center, working collaboratively to advance the mission to serve people experiencing homelessness. Reporting to the Advancement Director, this role is responsible for carrying out the organization's volunteer engagement, recruitment, and retention strategies. The position also plays a supporting role in New Life Center's events and generates awareness for the Mission and those served. It requires a self-starter with a collaborative attitude and demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities. Formal public speaking experience and excellent skills in building strong relationships with diverse groups of people are a must. At New Life Center, the work is grounded in its Christian mission and values. Each role contributes to the ministry and operations of the organization. Requirements

  • Must be engaged in a local church and exhibit a personal, evident, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Compassionate heart for those in need.
  • Willingness to serve others.
  • Desire to see the lost transformed through the love of Christ.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience with a focus on community or customer relationships, outreach, and/or program/project oversight.
  • Formal public speaking experience.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with the organization's insurance carrier requirements, and provide proof of insurance, as required for the performance of job duties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, friendly, and outgoing personality, and self-awareness.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of volunteers and staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to adapt to continuous change and take direction well.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.), cloud-based software applications, and other traditional desktop applications.

  • An associate or bachelor's degree in human services, management, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Administer all aspects of New Life Center's volunteer program, including recruitment and onboarding strategies and processes.
  • Develop, build, and maintain positive, long-term relationships with volunteers.
  • Identify, cultivate, and steward volunteers through meaningful engagement and recognition strategies.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with businesses, churches, civic groups, and service clubs.
  • Identify and conduct community outreach and public speaking engagement to generate Mission awareness and recruit new volunteers.
  • Collaborate with all departments within the organization to identify available opportunities and volunteer needs.
  • Conduct volunteer orientations, tours, and training.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and assign volunteers and groups to appropriate volunteer roles.
  • Oversee large group volunteer activities and ensure individual volunteers are well-supervised.
  • Ensure volunteer needs are met and concerns are addressed promptly.
  • Maintain volunteer database and ensure volunteer files, records, applications, and other data are accurate and up to date.
  • Enter and track volunteer hours.
  • Produce monthly and annual reports on all individual and group volunteer activities.
  • Create, review, and regularly update volunteer policies and procedures as directed.
  • Conduct annual volunteer program evaluation and adjust accordingly.
  • Lead the planning and execution of volunteer appreciation gifts and events.
  • Assist the team in executing and attending various external and internal events, including recruiting and overseeing volunteers.
  • Provide periodic progress reports to the Advancement Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
