About The Position

The Volunteer Coordinator coordinates volunteers with the various needs of each department. Keeps accurate records on all volunteer information, including processing of applications, as well as individual volunteer data and statistics. Coordinates the summer Feed the Kids program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with approval to drive from TSA’s insurance
  • Two years’ related experience
  • OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

Responsibilities

  • Recruit long-term, short-term and special event volunteers for all program areas, including securing individuals and volunteer groups for the Red Kettle Campaign.
  • Screen and process volunteers according to The Salvation Army guidelines and the requirements of each department. Interviews volunteers to assess proper placement.
  • Ensure all background checks for volunteers are completed in accordance with Salvation Army policies.
  • Maintain all volunteer information and track hours in volunteer management program. Record volunteer statistics and submit each month.
  • Coordinates and supervises the operations of the summer Feed the Kids program, including supervision of staff and volunteers for the program.
  • Develop and maintain volunteer job descriptions, manuals and orientation information.
  • Supervise court-assigned community service workers and document hours served.
  • Supervise volunteers through the SER and W2 programs. Submits participant timesheets to those programs.
  • Initiate volunteer thank you notes and appreciation throughout the year. Plan and execute an annual volunteer appreciation event.
  • Ensures proper supervision of volunteers.
  • Coordinates special projects with volunteers and staff (i.e. Postal food drive, seasonal program participation).
  • Act as agency liaison to community organizations and volunteer agencies. Makes presentations to various community groups (i.e. service clubs, schools) to recruit volunteers.
  • Create and circulate regular volunteer e-newsletters. Maintain updated information for volunteering on Salvation Army, Waukesha, social media accounts.
