About The Position

The Volunteer Coordinator Assistant is responsible for helping the Volunteer Coordinator with administrative duties and grief support. This is a non-exempt position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; college degree, advanced degree in human services preferred.
  • Hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred.
  • Understands hospice philosophy.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
  • Must be punctual, reliable and available during office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; duties may include regular hours outside of these.
  • Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs.
  • Organization personnel are expected to participate in appropriate education as may be requested by their immediate supervisor. In addition, organization personnel are expected to accept personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job-related skills and abilities. All personnel must attend mandatory educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in compiling monthly statistics.
  • Assists in maintaining current volunteer files.
  • Assists in health screenings and other processes for new volunteers.
  • Assists in support/education meetings.
  • Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
  • Assists in grief and caregiver support as needed.
  • Promotes Hospice of Midland in the community.
  • Supports the Hospice of Midland Mission and Values.
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
