About The Position

The Department of Neurological Surgery is currently seeking a full time Voluntary Research Scholar to work in Miami, FL. The Voluntary Research Scholar grants and appoints residents and fellows participating in research initiatives as part of their training. This appointment provides opportunities to be Investigators on grants. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Prepares research proposals with detailed rationale, background data, and proposed methods and organization. 2. Designs and writes programs to perform analysis and produces written reports on results. 3. Collects pilot data to help support new and competing renewal applications. 4. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. 5. Maintains data files and conducts data analysis. 6. Drafts and publishes manuscripts and articles for peer-reviewed journals. 7. Prepares and submits grant applications. 8. Designs, executes, interprets, and integrates scientific data. 9. Presents research findings at local and national scientific conferences. 10. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. CORE QUALIFICATIONS Education: Doctorate degree Medicine (MD) required Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required Certification and Licensing: Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications. Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders. Department Specific Functions Dedicate themselves to preliminary laboratory experiments in the joint labs of Dr. Iavarone, Dr. Shah, and Dr. Ruiz-Cordero.
