About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Production Supervisor, the Vocational Specialist supervises and provides vocational training and rehabilitative services to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and chronic mental illness at Lakeland Industries and in the community. Develops program schedules, instructs and trains participants, and Vocational Assistant(s). Prepares documentation as to a participant’s behaviors, goals and objectives. This is a hands-on position, which includes providing personal care and implementing behavior plans.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months to one-year related experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and chronic mental illness.
  • Valid WI driver’s license or evidence of equivalent mobility. Successful training can be accomplished during the first six months of employment.

  • Associate Degree in Arts & Science or other related Human Services Degree, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and documents individualized program plans, including behavior support plans/approaches for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or chronic mental illness participating in services at Lakeland Industries.
  • Supervises daily activity/production of adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and adults with chronic mental illness at Lakeland Industries or in community training sites or work sites.
  • Develops rehabilitation activities for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or adults with chronic mental illness at Lakeland Industries or within appropriate community worksites or training sites.
  • Records participant production accounts/activities and enters into computerized system in compliance with wage and hour regulations.
  • Assists participants at Lakeland with personal cares as needed including toileting and feeding.
  • Coordinates/oversees activities of staff in daily programming. Teaches appropriate life skills or job readiness skills, based on individualized participant plan.
  • Purchases materials and supplies for programming and production following agency/County policies.
  • Ensures work produced meets quality standards including arranging for timely pickup and delivery of product.
  • Monitors and documents progress and complies into six-month reports for participant, participant’s family, guardian and MCO/IRIS Care team.
  • Assures compliance of staff to participant ratio are being followed per MCO/IRIS contracts.
  • Monitors safety and well-being for each participant. Completes any incident reports when necessary and notifies necessary persons on the participant’s care team.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned by supervisor.
