Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist - ACT Mental Health Program
About The Position
CEC Healthcare is a nonprofit organization providing integrated health and human services across Long Island. Our OMH-licensed Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program delivers mobile, community-based mental health services to individuals living with serious mental illness (SMI). We are seeking a Community-Based Vocational Specialist to join our mental health ACT team supporting individuals living with serious mental illness. This role focuses on mental health vocational rehabilitation and supported employment services. This role is perfect for professionals interested in mental health, vocational rehabilitation, job development, and community outreach.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or related field
- 6+ months experience working with individuals with serious mental illness or behavioral health populations
- Valid NYS driver’s license
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout Nassau and Western Suffolk County
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Rehabilitation Counseling
- Experience with: Vocational rehabilitation Supported employment Job development or employment counseling
- Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential
Responsibilities
- Conduct vocational and employment assessments
- Help individuals explore job and education opportunities
- Provide supported employment and job readiness coaching
- Assist recipients in finding and maintaining employment
- Provide community-based services throughout Nassau and Western Suffolk County
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary ACT treatment team
- Connect recipients with local employers and workforce resources
- Provide employment-related skills development and counseling
- Assist with vocational program development and training
- Ensure compliance with program and regulatory standards
- Participate in on-call rotation
