About The Position

Serving with Compassion, Creativity, and Consistency. $18-22 an hour Position Summary: Vocation Services within Residential and Community Programs support youth in building essential job skills and gaining meaningful work experience. Through pre-employment and vocational rehabilitation services, the program prepares youth to become confident, capable, and contributing members of the workforce.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required Associates Degree strongly preferred Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience: 5 years of experience working with youth and a high school diploma/GED 2 years of work experience, with at least 1 year in human services or child welfare required
  • Some experience in supportive transitional services for youth, outreach, and development of relationships with outside vendors and ability to follow-up and track progress and success of program preferred
  • Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required

Responsibilities

  • Seek out and develop supportive work sites, partner with employers in realizing the advantages of hiring our youth, and assisting in developing the youth to become skilled employees.
  • Interview, select, and train youth.
  • Work with care team to determine strengths, skills, and interests of youth to ensure success.
  • Ensure youth have the skills, equipment, and support to succussed.
  • Address challenges and involve youth in overcoming hurdles to promote growth.
  • Ensure clear expectations, track and report hours worked, consistent communication with employer, and worksite support.
  • Oversee transition from Supported Youth Contract to employer paid employment.
  • Obtain feedback from employers about youth and the program, to measure the effectiveness of the program and future employment opportunities.
  • Work with campus supervisors regarding training with youth on campus, to develop skills for work off campus.
  • Remain current on developments in employment, including technological advances, hiring trends, pre-hire processes, and training opportunities.
  • Keep organized records of the youth employment process.
