About The Position

The Vocational Coordinator (VC) is responsible for developing vocational services for individuals recovering from mental illness. The VC works with individuals on job development and employment readiness. The VC also coordinates with potential employers to identify job compatibility and availability. This person reports to the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program Coordinator.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree plus two (2) years' experience in mental health and/or supported employment is required or an AA degree with at least three (3) years experience in mental health/psychiatric rehabilitation may be considered.
  • Leadership qualities and the ability to work as a part of a team are necessary.
  • Ability to respect individual choice in the recovery process and a commitment to psychiatric recovery is required.
  • Also, this position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and the understanding to respect the strengths, needs, abilities and preferences of individuals served.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial Vocational Assessments, relevant intake information and Individual Vocational Rehabilitation Plans for goal development, intervention and updates
  • Meet with individuals served in the location of their preference to assess ongoing progress and provide support
  • Maintain communication and coordination with other agencies and resources
  • Track an organized system of job openings including the names of employers, relevant phone numbers and contact person
  • Participate in monthly Community Behavioral Health Vocational Rehabilitation Committee
  • Develop work contracts and other opportunities for employment
  • Promote successful training of the individual to a new job, job adjustment, retention and advancement
  • Manage caseload of individuals in the vocational program, including required documentation (Contact notes, ROI's, Individualized Vocational Plans, etc.)
  • Participate in staff, family and team meetings as needed
  • Provide in service training to increase staff knowledge of vocational services
  • Submit authorization requests to the Administrative Service Organization with required documents and within required time frames.
  • Utilize Electronic Health Record to complete daily contact notes and track billing data.
  • Utilize computer systems for external & internal communication, Time and Attendance
  • May be responsible for the hiring, training and supervising of Employment Specialists.
  • Facilitate PRP groups focused on employment as needed.
  • Manage/Coordinate Division of Rehabilitation Services for individuals to include gathering billing information from EHR and completing progress reports for monthly services rendered.
  • Routinely review program charts and correct any missing information.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
