About The Position

Facilitates the services and principles of the Individual Placement and Support, Supported Employment model, by assisting clients to reintegrate into the community through work that aligns with and enhances their mental health recovery.

Requirements

  • Education equivalent to bachelor’s degree in mental health, social services, psychology, or related field required.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of the Vocational Services team.
  • Regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and keyboard.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting is required,
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 plus years of working in a mental health/supported employment setting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Individualized Placement and Support model, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and Colorado Employment First preferred
  • Working knowledge of healthcare case management preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Engages clients and establishes trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of competitive employment in community job settings with other workers who do not necessarily have disabilities.
  • Assists clients in obtaining information concerning wages vs. benefits through Benefits Counseling
  • Spends 65% or more of scheduled work hours meeting with consumers, employers, and community partners.
  • Collaborates with Colorado Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and Colorado Employment First to offer additional resources, trainings, and partnerships.
  • Participates in weekly meetings with mental health treatment team to coordinate and integrate vocational services within the team.
  • Conducts an average of six employer contacts per week while learning about business needs and establishing community connections.
  • Discusses client's preference for disclosure of mental health status to employers.
  • Assesses clients' vocational skills, interests, preferences, and priorities on an ongoing basis.
  • Engages with consumers for career exploration and paths to sustainable, successful employment.
  • Conducts job development and job search activities directed toward positions individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the consumer, while following the principles and procedures of IPS supported employment.
  • Provides individualized follow-along supports to assist clients in maintaining employment.
  • Writes job search and support plans with clients and incorporates input from family members and the mental health team. Adjusts plan according to clients’ needs and preferences.
  • Works within fidelity guidelines leading to annual IPS review.
  • Provides community education that promotes competitive employment for all.
