About The Position

The VMI Team Leader is responsible for managing a team of VMI Representatives and overseeing the daily operations of the Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) program. The VMI Team Leader ensures that inventory levels are optimized, we meet service level agreements, and the systems operate efficiently and effectively. This role involves a mix of leadership, coordination, and problem-solving, working closely with internal teams and customers to ensure smooth VMI operations. This position may work onsite at a customer location or be based within a Field COE. Location: Machesney Park, IL This position reports to: VMI Manager This position has direct reports: Yes FLSA Hourly/Salary: Starting Salary $65,000-$70,000

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Polite and professional manner.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a customer service and/or delivery role with customer interaction and increasing responsibilities.
  • Ability to lift and carry cartons of product up to 50 pounds, in addition to bending and reaching while handing.
  • Willingness and commitment to travel to Field’s headquarters or other Field locations for training as needed.
  • Available to respond to emergency customers’ needs outside of scheduled work hours.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
  • Ability and motivation to be successful with limited direct supervision.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with Team Members, peers, customers, and suppliers; including the addressing of conflicts and concerns to bring about the desired results.
  • Valid Driver's License or ability to be transported to customer locations as needed.
  • Effectively serve as the “Face of Field” to our customers.
  • Ability to work extra hours as needed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Commit to FIELD’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Fieldamentals.
  • Lead a team of VMI Reps, ensuring the successful execution of all VMI-related tasks and functions.
  • Manage team performance, setting clear expectations, and providing regular feedback and development opportunities.
  • Engage in screening, interviewing, and hiring processes for VMI Reps.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact and liaison to Field’s Account Managers.
  • Work with our VMI Reps and Field’s account managers to ensure that the VMI system meets the expectations of our customers and Field.
  • Collaborate closely with VMI Customer Solutions to create a team environment focused around shared goals and objectives and sharing resources.
  • Coordinate projects and problem-solving between the customer and Field team.
  • Work with the customer to resolve any quality and delivery issues.
  • Participate in the continual development and improvement of our inventory management systems.
  • Seek additional opportunities at customer locations to add to Field’s existing business.
  • Evaluate VMI team member performance and generate formal performance appraisals.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to drive performance, engagement, and professional growth.
  • Champion leadership development and succession planning across the team.
  • Facilitate cross training and upskilling to build team versatility and resilience.
  • Identify high potential team members and support their development through coaching and tailored opportunities.
  • Serve as a back-up or as additional support for performing VMI duties such as delivering parts, scanning customer bins to create orders, performing material handling activities, and managing inventory levels.
  • Travel to various customer locations to perform and conduct audits.
  • Contribute team support to critical initiatives outside of core responsibilities.
