About The Position

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center is expanding and seeks an outstanding vitreoretinal surgeon to join our rapidly growing group. This position’s expertise will significantly contribute to the preservation and restoration of vision in our patients. Applicants must have completed an accredited vitreoretinal surgery fellowship. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practice at the UNM Hospital Eye Clinic, and will share responsibility with existing faculty for call and medical student and resident education. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching, and research in an academic setting. The qualified applicant will be joining an established and busy vitreoretinal surgical service with one other full-time attending physician. As part of the UNM Health System, the Eye Clinic provides a rewarding mix of tertiary and indigent care with a wide breadth of medical and surgical retinal pathology. Surgery is performed in an outpatient surgical center and incoming surgeons can expect to quickly build up to 5-7 surgical cases per week. Requirements

  • Completion of an Ophthalmology Residency Program
  • Completion of Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship
  • Board certified/eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Eligible for licensure in New Mexico
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
