About The Position

As the Visual Merchandise Communications Specialist, you will develop, support, and execute visual merchandising communication and presentation standards across assigned Journeys Group concepts. Collaborate with team members and cross functional partners to maintain visual consistency, enhance in-store brand storytelling, visual experience, and assist with seasonal strategies that strengthen brand identity and improve overall customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, Design or Art preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Photoshop, InDesign and Mac operating system
  • Journeys retail store management experience (minimum 2+ years store management experience) or other varied retail experience
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient in digital photography and editing
  • A passion for visual merchandising, design, and retail presentation trends
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 30-50 pounds for display shifting and moving VM items
  • Some travel required

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of visual merchandising communication initiatives by coordinating development, production, photography, and document design across assigned Journeys Group concepts and store types.
  • Strategize and collaborate cross-functionally to develop concept-specific visual communication, executing key strategies and refining display and sign kit instructions to enhance overall visual experience.
  • Collaborate on communication workflows by tracking project timelines, coordinating photo shoots and sign kit elements, and helping ensure timely and accurate information for field teams to execute.
  • Provide store support for locations that reach out via email and portal feedback, which include but are not limited to: sign replacements, visual merchandising questions, clarification on visual direction, special display requests, and VM strategy guidance or field suggestions.
  • Support the VM team by participating in collaborative decision-making, helping refine processes for the legacy concepts, and contributing to strategies that enhance visual execution, consistency, and team effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and collaborate on the development of visual standards, training content, hardware guidelines, and setup instructions for new items, displays, and strategies to support field teams in effectively executing company initiatives.
  • Assist with the organization and execution of in-studio photo shoots, including photography editing and image processing to support seasonal or new visual strategies across concepts.
  • Work closely with Buying and Merchandising partners to translate seasonal priorities, product placement guidance, and brand initiatives into clear visual strategies that strengthen storytelling and elevate the in-store experience.
  • Support the ongoing creation and maintenance of computer aided design (CAD) materials to ensure communication accurately reflects fixture layouts, placement guidance, display standards, and store variations.
  • Coordinate deployment and maintain content on store platforms for seasonal and promotional visual communication materials to align execution across concepts.
  • Collaborate and support the planning and execution of sign kit elements with VM team and print vendor partners to ensure accuracy and organization in all VM initiatives.
  • Support new or test visual communication projects, strategy instructions, or fixture enhancements to improve compliance and elevate in-store presentations.
