About The Position

As a Visual Capture Technician, you’ll bring cutting‑edge visual technology to life on our construction projects. You’ll leverage drones, GPS, total stations, 3D laser scanners, thermal imaging, and ground‑penetrating radar (GPR) to deliver accurate, high‑value data that improves planning, enhances safety, and reduces risk. From precision surveys and as‑built documentation to thermal scans and aerial inspections, your expertise will help our teams build smarter, faster, and with greater confidence.

Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science in Land Surveying & Mapping, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification (required).
  • Hands-on experience with drone-based reality capture (RGB + thermal).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) for developing 2D as‑builts.
  • Experience with 3D laser scanning and point‑cloud processing (e.g., Autodesk Recap).
  • Practical experience operating and interpreting GPR equipment (GSSI, Leica, Zond Aero 500, etc.).
  • Strong data management and QC skillset.
  • Ability to clearly communicate highly technical findings to varied audiences.
  • Valid driver’s license; comfortable working on active construction sites.
  • Background in surveying.

Nice To Haves

  • NDT or GIS certifications (e.g., GISP).
  • Experience with RTK survey systems.
  • Skill in 3D visualization tools for walkthroughs or collaborative model reviews.
  • Natural curiosity and passion for emerging construction technologies.
  • High attention to detail paired with strong problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performing drone flights for photogrammetry, orthomosaics, and 3D reality capture.
  • Conducting thermal imaging to identify envelope deficiencies, moisture intrusion, and heat loss.
  • Capturing visuals of hard‑to-reach or elevated areas for condition assessments and progress documentation.
  • Operating all drone missions in full compliance with FAA Part 107 and company safety protocols.
  • Operating ground‑penetrating radar equipment for non-destructive subsurface investigation.
  • Interpreting GPR data to locate rebar, conduits, post‑tension cables, and other buried materials.
  • Preparing clear, accurate, and actionable GPR reports for project teams.
  • Conducting pre‑pour and post‑pour anchor bolt surveys using GPS and total stations.
  • Producing precise as‑built documentation to support structural accuracy and BIM workflows.
  • Maintaining, calibrating, and managing all reality‑capture devices and survey tools.
  • Ensuring equipment is field‑ready and data collection follows quality‑control standards.
  • Managing large visual and point‑cloud datasets with accuracy and organization.
