Visual Arts Instructor
About The Position
We are seeking a driven and passionate visual arts instructor to teach various styles of art to children. Art styles we are looking for include, but are not limited to, sketching, painting, and sculpting. This role will focus on creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment while fostering a love for art in new students and facilitating growth in experienced students. Under direct supervision, the visual arts instructor will plan lessons, organize showings, and collaborate with other staff to enhance community engagement through art. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or experience in art education.
- Strong background in various art styles.
- Working knowledge of group and individual teaching strategies.
- Professional and motivated attitude with the ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members.
- Willingness to lead students by example including, but not limited to punctuality, dress, and demonstration of techniques.
Nice To Haves
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement progressive art lesson plans with a clear goal in mind.
- Create a welcoming and supportive classroom environment that cultivates growth and creativity.
- Teach art techniques that are appropriate for age and skill level and ensure activities are accessible for all students.
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with students, parents, and supervisor.
- Collaborate with other team members to build and expand the art programming.
- Attend team meetings and trainings to continuously improve personal teaching practices.
- Participate in art events such as parties, festivals, and showings.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
