About The Position

Working at a Visitor Information Center on Sierra National Forest at the High
Sierra Ranger District Office, located in Prather CA.

Requirements

• Customer service skills
• Computer skills (proficient)
• Driver's License
• This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.

Responsibilities

• Providing Forest Information in person and on the phone, on: Camping, Hiking, Fishing, Boating, Hunting, Lakes, Rivers, OHV, Roads Forest Produces such as Firewood, Mushroom and Fern picking
• Learn about the Forest Fora, Fauna & Reptiles
• Know about PG&E, SCE-Southern CA. Operations- Hydroelectric reservoir systems, Reservoirs & Camping recreation opportunities, including Camp Edison Private camping at Shaver, Pacific Crest Trail
• Current forest orders
• Knowledge of District Dept. operations, opening & closing procedures: doors, phones, outside restrooms, gates
• Explore and learn how to use Recreation.gov including create, enter, issue and file recreation sites and wilderness permits
• Office filing, printing, copying, restocking and some minor cleaning
