About The Position
This part-time, temporary position is essential to the Museum of Art's Visitor Experience and Retail Department. As a Visitor Experience Associate, you will be the primary point of contact for our visitors, playing a crucial role in creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Your responsibilities will include greeting visitors and providing them with accurate information about exhibitions, galleries, the Museum Park, and our stores. We are seeking individuals with exceptional communication skills who are passionate about service, art, and culture, and who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will primarily work in the Museum's retail spaces.
Requirements
- Retail experience of two or more years
- Hospitality service of two or more years
- Merchandising experience of one year or more
- Ability to lift 20 lbs. throughout the day
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Flexible schedule including some weekend availability
Responsibilities
- Welcoming visitors: greet Museum guests warmly, creating a welcoming and inclusive experience when they enter the retail space.
- Customer service: deliver exceptional customer service by actively engaging with visitors, answering inquiries, and addressing any concerns or requests promptly.
- Product knowledge: maintain thorough knowledge of retail merchandise, including art-related products, books, and souvenirs, to assist customers effectively.
- Sales transactions: process transactions accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit card payments, and gift card transactions as required.
- Visual merchandising: help keep the retail areas visually appealing and organized, maintaining clean displays that attract customer interest.
- Inventory management: assist in inventory control, including restocking shelves, conducting stock checks, and ensuring proper product placement.
- Adapting to fast-paced environment: thrive in a dynamic, busy retail environment while maintaining a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
