The appointment supports the MSU Land Grant vision to transform lives and communities in the people's interest and the School of Architecture's mission to instill personal agency, self-reflection, and environmental empathy to educate innovators who challenge and advance the design professions. The Visiting Scholar is expected to contribute to or challenge thinking about architecture through their teaching, research, and creative activity. The Visiting Scholar is required to present the accomplishments in the form of a public lecture at the School and submit the work produced at the School to an external body for peer review and dissemination to national or international audiences. The primary role of the position is to introduce new, pioneering, and interdisciplinary approaches in design research and practice and integrate them into the programs at the School. A broad range of scholarly and professional expertise is welcomed.
