The Center for the Genetics of Host Defense would like to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher for the laboratory of Jean-Laurent Casanova. This person will developed a novel computational approach to assess the functional impact of genetic variants in the 5' untranslated region (5' UTR), with a focus on variants that alter translation initiation and protein expression. Applying this method to patient sequencing data, identified a pathogenic 5' UTR variant in RPSA associated with reduced protein production and congenital asplenia, bridging basic and clinical research with implications for improved diagnostics of rare genetic diseases.
