About The Position

The Department of Social Work at Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Social Work for the 2026/2027 academic year beginning August 2026. This is a one-year appointment with responsibilities in teaching. Skidmore College offers a comprehensive benefits package. All bargaining unit members shall be covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Skidmore College and Services Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 200 United. Requirements

  • Candidates must have an MSW with two years post-MSW experience, and those with a doctorate are preferred.
  • We seek candidates with recent teaching experience, preferably who have taught in the past two years.
  • Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, experience with inclusive practices both in and out of the classroom and demonstrate teaching excellence through evidence such as teaching evaluations, peer evaluations, and sample course materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Flexibility and the ability to teach courses across our CSWE-accredited program is strongly preferred, as is experience with student-centered practices.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 18 credits (5-6 courses)
