The Department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (RHIT) seeks candidates for a Visiting Assistant Professor of German. The individual hired will begin in August 2026 for a one-year appointment, with potential for a second-year extension based on department needs for the 2027-2028 academic year. Candidates will either be ABD or hold a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in German language, pedagogy, linguistics, German Studies, literature, or other related discipline at the time of employment. Successful candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. The mission of RHIT is to offer students “the world’s best undergraduate science, engineering and mathematics education in an environment of individual attention and support.” Our campus in west-central Indiana is home to 2,100 students with a passion for learning. The visiting assistant professor will join a multidisciplinary liberal arts department that teaches all Rose-Hulman students, offering many popular minors—including German—and a second major in International Studies.
