About The Position

The Department of Classical Studies in the School of Arts & Sciences at the University of Richmond invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics to begin on August 18, 2026. We seek a teacher-scholar who shares our commitment to highly effective teaching at all levels of the curriculum. The successful candidate will teach 3 courses in the fall and 3 courses in the spring semester, which may include, but are not limited to, Greek or Latin at any level and general education courses such as Classical Mythology and Greek Drama. Richmond’s Department of Classical Studies maintains a vibrant academic program that enrolls a broad array of students each semester while successfully training a small cadre each year for graduate studies in art, archaeology, classics, history, law, linguistics, medicine, and theology. A PhD in Classics or a related field is required by the time of appointment.
