About The Position

The Department of Chemistry in Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a fulltime, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry position to start August 1, 2026. One-year appointment or two-year appointment is negotiable, at the discretion of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry from an accredited college or university is required.
• ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor until their Ph.D. is obtained; however, candidates with a Ph.D. in hand by August 1, 2026 are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• presentation of undergraduate general chemistry (with laboratory) or organic chemistry (with laboratory) courses, depending on expertise
• completion of auxiliary functions of teaching faculty members at Mercer University
• contribution to the faculty members’ operational jobs around the Department of Chemistry
